BCON26 Visual Identity

Pizza: check. Drinks: check. Time to kick off the world’s biggest LAN party! This year, Blender, the world’s most famous 3D software, asked us to create the visual identity for their annual event. The theme centered around bringing the community together through technology and fun, all inside one room.

BCON has always been the place where 3D artists gather to exchange ideas, share creativity, and discover the latest updates on their favorite software. When the awesome team at Blender asked us to capture all of this in a single image, we knew a LAN party was the perfect fit: cables, drinks, snacks, computers, and tons of unique people, all ready to have fun together.

Party ingredients... a picture-perfect brand

We wanted to create something fresh…literally. We set out to mix an incredibly unique and recognizable set of elements. A LAN party is all about PCs, crazy stuff, stickers slapped everywhere, and we threw in some dance-floor colored lights for anyone ready to go wild. All of this brought to life a visual identity that blends 3D elements and 2D stickers, exploding across every asset of the conference.

A logo with a human soul

The router is the ultimate connector at a LAN party, acting as the hub for a community gathering offline. Because of this, we envisioned a tactile logo applied directly onto the router itself.

We did dozens of tests for the event logo: sketched, stickered, handwritten. The final design was placed on our hero object, front and center. Plus, why not add a slice of pizza tossed in a moment of pure hype?

A hero image full of heroes

Building this hero image was a massive undertaking. We wanted to create a visual playground, something you get lost looking at, where the longer you gaze, the more details, hidden elements, and easter eggs you uncover, along with characters you missed at first glance. It stayed amazingly true to the original sketch while complexly blending 3D and 2D elements, just like Blender itself.

The real stars of the show

The props are definitely the main highlight of this entire branding: chubby, 3D, packed with textures, and full of inside jokes. They’re super colorful and radiate true party energy. We created over a dozen 3D elements strictly in Blender to tell the story of this LAN party. The result? Visuals that absolutely kick ass.

With the assets created, we experimented with composition formats where the 3D elements held the spotlight while fulfilling their practical role: posters, promotional flyers, oversized displays, deck slides, and wayfinding signage, all unified in a rich blend of 3D and motion design.

The wildest party guests ever

To represent the Blender community, we created and designed an endless cast of cool people. Every single character is unique, brought to life using a variety of techniques and styles. We tailored custom textures and materials for each one to hit that sweet spot between hyper-realistic and stylized, fuzzy, glittery, and packed with unique vibes.

A sticker is worth a thousand words.

Since community was at the core of this project, we brought in a few friends of the studio to design stickers in completely different styles, after all, stickers are pure LAN-party magic! Huge shoutout to Lucas Sales, Holly OBJ, Axel Kinner, and Studio Tutto Giallo for joining the party and making something incredible. Check out their creations below, right alongside the ones from the Rocketpanda team: each one unique, perfectly on-palette, and ready to be slapped onto the next prop.
